Pastor Caleb Leach
Caleb was the firstborn child to parents Pastor Dan and Connie Leach, an answer to long years of prayer and eager anticipation. His arrival was not without complications however, as Caleb was born with a severe cleft lip and cleft palate. Dan and Connie were told that Caleb would have great difficulty speaking, and at the least, was likely to have a speech impediment for the rest of his life.
Over the years, with much continued prayer, and a grueling process of countless reconstructive surgeries, Caleb and his parents worked for years to overcome the hurdles that would have prevented him from effectively communicating. Caleb and his family relocated from metro-Detroit to Traverse City in 2007.
Although he was raised with many Reformation-era principles, including the sole infallible rule of Scripture, Caleb spent most of his formative years in churches that embraced unscriptural and sometimes heretical doctrines. These ranged from small charismatic home groups to seeker-oriented corporate churches. In His mercy, the Lord saw fit to deliver Caleb from each of these false views of Christ and salvation, and to bring him into a fully reformed view of Christ, the Church, and the sacraments. Caleb married his high school sweetheart, Chloe, in 2011. Much of this reforming process happened during the early years of their marriage, and during their travels to areas with a strong Reformation heritage. In 2014, Caleb and Chloe made their first visit to Scotland, just as Caleb was beginning to delve into the teachings of Calvinism and the beliefs of the early reformers. This first of many consequent travels sparked a fire that would have a profound effect on the rest of their lives. Newly exposed to this ancient Christian heritage which has been lost on a large scale in the mainstream Evangelical movement, Caleb was a man possessed. He began to voraciously read and study, everything from early church history to textual criticism, ancient Greek and Hebrew languages. He now devotes his full time career to study and teaching. Caleb’s passion in life and ministry is to see the Church restored to a right view of worship and covenant in Christ. Caleb currently lives in Traverse City with Chloe and their two dogs. They can often be found reading the works of CS Lewis together, enjoying a good-humored debate over music tastes, or throwing down in the kitchen.
